Ecco i primi effetti del governo di Salvini: Sabato sera in Calabria, Soumaila Sacko, migrante maliano di 29 anni, sempre in prima fila nelle lotte dei braccianti, è stato ucciso da una delle fucilate sparate da sconosciuti mentre cercava lamiere per la sua baracca. Un tiro al bersaglio contro “lo straniero”, il nero cattivo da rispedire nel paese d’origine. Se non si conosce ancora l’identità della persona che ha sparato, il mandante politico e morale invece lo conosciamo benissimo: è Matteo Salvini, ministro dell’Interno, che con le sue politiche razziste soffia sul fuoco dell’intolleranza.

Hanno ammazzato uno di noi.
Un bracciante, uno che si spezzava la schiena nei campi, sotto il sole, senza diritti.
Hanno ammazzato un lavoratore.
Uno giovane, nemmeno 30 anni, tutta la vita davanti.
Non ve lo diranno.
Vi diranno che hanno sparato a un nero che rubava per legittima difesa.

E invece Soumaila stava cercando, forse, lamiere per costruirsi una baracca in cui vivere nelle poche ore di stacco dal lavoro, in una fabbrica abbandonata, dismessa.
Qualcuno si è divertito a fare il cecchino, non perchè si sentiva in pericolo, ma perchè si divertiva così. Sparandogli dalla distanza di 60 metri – altro che pericolo! – e alle spalle, mirando alla testa, ammazzando lui, ferendone altri due.

Qualcuno dirà: perchè prendere pezzi di metallo da un capannone vuoto? Perchè i lavoratori dei campi di Gioia Tauro vivono nella tendopoli di san Ferdinando, in 4000. I padroni dei campi li scelgono come fossero al supermarket e li fanno lavorare come schiavi, arricchendosi enormemente.
Diciamo noi: il problema non è cercare lamiere per costruirsi un riparo, il problema è essere costretti a vivere in un riparo fatto di lastroni d’alluminio per guadagnare il pane.

Hanno ammazzato un giovane maliano, un lavoratore, uno che stava sempre in prima fila per i diritti con l’ Unione Sindacale Di Base.
Domani nella piana è sciopero.
Tutti i suoi fratelli si fermeranno. Qualcuno la chiama “pacchia”, tipo il nuovo ministro degli interni e vicepremier salvini.
E’ una guerra ai poveri, una guerra che fa morti, non figurata. E nessuno può voltarsi dall’altra parte.

Sosteniamo lo sciopero, sosteniamo il dolore e la rabbia dei fratelli e delle sorelle di Soumaila.
Non avremo tregua finchè non accada mai più.

Only two days into the Salvini government, and in the same day that the new Home Secretary stated that “the party was over for illegal migrants” a man was shot and killed in Calabria because of the colour of his skin. Two others were also wounded. Soumaila Sacko, 29 years old, was originally from Mali and had leave to remain in Italy. He was a labourer and trade unionist, involved in the struggle of the agricultural labourers for dignified living and working conditions. He was shot by unknown persons while searching in an abandoned and ownerless factory for material to build a new shack that could serve as a home for a friend. The shots were aimed to kill. And the motivation was the colour of Sacko’s skin. While the killer remains at large, and more details of the event are yet to emerge, what is clear is that the killing is a direct consequence of the climate of fear and racial hatred of which the principal author is Matteo Salvini, now Home Secretary of Italy.

In killing Soumaila they have killed one of us. He was a worker who fought against intolerable conditions, he was part of the struggle. And yet the immediate response from the media was to paint him as a thief, to say that the killer acted in “legitimate defence”, flying in the face of factual honesty. Soumaila was looking for material to put a roof over the head of a friend, in a factory that had been decommissioned many years ago and confiscated from its owners after it was found they had been illegally dumping toxic waste. The shots were fired in cold blood. Not by someone who felt threatened by the presence of Soumaila and his friends – they shot from over 60 metres away – but by someone who wanted to kill. Soumaila had his back to the killer and was shot directly in the head.

Soumaila and his co-workers are forced to build their own houses because they live with over 4,000 others in the tent-ghetto of San Ferdinando. The ghetto exists because the agricultural workers that come to work on the fields of Gioia Tauro are not provided with housing and do not earn enough to rent. They are the back-bone of the economy of Southern Italy and yet they earn as little as 1.50 euros an hour. While the agriculture industry continues to make money, they are barely able to survive. And aside from the daily struggle to find food and shelter, they often face serious danger, as a result of the precarity of their living and working conditions; of the lack of legal protections afforded to them as workers or as migrants. Only last year the life of Becky Moses was lost in a fire that ripped through the ghetto. There have also been more than a few cases of death from exhaustion. This is what for Salvini counts as a “party”.

Today agricultural workers across Southern Italy will lay down their tools. Today in Italy no-one can turn their heads from the suffering and violence brought about by Salvini’s politics of hate. If we do not take action we will become complicit. We will support the strike and we stand by Soumaila’s brothers and sisters in their rage and sorrow. We will continue to fight until we know that this will never happen again.

Voici les premiers effets du gouvernement de Salvini-Di Maio: samedi soir, en Calabre (sud de l’Italie), Soumaila Sacko, un migrant malien de 29 ans, militant des luttes des journalier(e)s, s’est fait tuer par un tir de fusil pendant qu’il cherchait des tôles pour couvrir le toit d’une cabane. Des inconnus ont fait un carton contre “l’étranger”, “le noir mechant” à renvoyer chez soi. Si nous ne connaissons pas encore l’identité du tueur, nous savons très bien qui a été le mandant politique et morale: Matteo Salvini, ministre de l’Interieur, qui avec ses discours racistes alimente le feu de l’intolerance.
C’est nous qu’ils ont tué. Un journalier qui se cassait le dos sur le terrain, sous le soleil, sans droits. Ils ont tué un travailleur, un jeune de moins que 30 ans. Mais les médias vous diront qu’il était un voleur de tôles.
Quelqu’un vous dira: pourquoi s’emparer des tôles dans une cabane vide? Parce que les travailleurs agricoles de Gioia Tauro (Calabre), vivent en 4000 dans un camp de tentes à San Ferdinando. Les patrons des terrains les choisissisent comme s’ils étaient au supermarché et ils les obligent à travailler comme des esclaves, tout en s’enrichissant  énormément. Nous répondons: le problème n’est pas celui de chercher des tôles pour réparer une cabane, mais plutôt le fait d’être obligé(e)s à vivre dans une telle cabane pour gagner sa propre vie.
Ils ont tué un jeune malien, un travailleur toujours en première ligne pour les droits avec le syndicat USB. Le 4 Juin, c’est la greve sur les terrains. Tous ses frères et toutes ses sœurs  se sont arrété(e)s.
Nous soutenons la grève et les protestations, avec la douleur et la rage des camarades de Soumaila. Nous ne cesserons de nous battre jusqu’à la disparition de l’esclavage contemporaine.

DIE JAGD AUF DIE ARMEN IST ERÖFFNET

Am Samstag Abend wurde im kalabresischen Gioia Tauro Soumaila Sacko, ein malischer Migrant, der stets an vordester Front in den Kämpfen für die Rechte der migrantischen LandarbeiterInnen stand, durch einen Schuss in den Kopf getötet. Der Täter wurde noch nicht gefasst, doch uns ist der politische und moralische Mandant bekannt: Matteo Salvini, Leader der rassistischen Lega und neuer Innenminister Italiens in der 5-Sterne-Lega-Regierung, der nur wenige Tage nach seinem Amtsantritt in den Medien erklärte: „Ich habe die Nase voll von den Unbestraften, die tun und lassen können, wie sie wollen. Eine Priorität unserer Regierung wird sein, für die illegalen Migranten weniger Geld und Zeit zu verschleudern. Die Regulären und Ehrlichen haben nichts zu fürchten, aber für die illegalen Migranten ist das Vergnügen vorbei: Macht eure Koffern bereit.“

Sie haben einen von uns getötet.
Einen Tagelöhner; einer, der sich den Rücken kaputt machte auf den Feldern, unter der Sonne, ohne Rechte.
Sie haben einen Arbeiter getötet.
Einen Jungen, kaum 30, sein ganzes Leben noch vor sich.
Das werden sie euch nicht erzählen.
Sie werden euch erzählen, dass aus Notwehr auf einen schwarzen Mann, der klaute, geschossen wurde.

Soumaila jedoch war in einer verlassenen Fabrik auf der Suche nach Wellblech, um sich eine Baracke zu bauen; ein Heim, in dem er die wenigen Stunden am Tag, die er nicht bei der Arbeit verbrachte, ausruhen zu können.

Jemand hat den Scharfschützen gespielt, jedoch nicht, weil er in Gefahr war, sondern aus purem Spass. Ein Schuss aus 60 Metern – alles andere als Notwehr also! – und von hinten, auf den Kopf zielend. Soumaila wurde regelrecht hingerichtet, weitere zwei Migranten verletzt.

Sie werden uns sagen: Warum brach er in einem verlassenen Lager ein, um Metallteile zu sammeln? Weil die LandarbeiterInnen von Gioia Tauro in der Zeltstadt von Sans Ferdinando leben, 4000 Menschen auf engstem Raum gepfercht. Die Bosse der Landwirtschaft wählen sie wie Ware im Supermarkt aus, lassen sie wie Sklaven arbeiten und bereichern sich dadurch enorm.

Wir sagen jedoch: Das Problem ist nicht, dass diese Landarbeiter Blech suchen, um sich einen Unterschlupf zu bauen; das Problem liegt darin, gezwungen zu sein, in einer Baracke aus Wellblech leben zu müssen, um sich sein Brot zu verdienen. Jemand hat das „Vergnügen“ genannt.

Sie haben einen Jungen Malianer getöten, einen Arbeiter, einer, der stets an vordester Front für die Rechte der ArbeiterInnen stand, gemeinsam mit der Basisgewerkschaft Unione Sindacale Di Base.

Heute wird in Gioia Tauro gestreikt. Seine Brüder haben entschieden, die Arbeit niederzulegen.

Wir befinden uns in einem Krieg gegen die Armen, einem realen Krieg, der Tote produziert, also nicht einfach nur bildlich gesprochen. In einer solchen Situation können wir nicht wegschauen.

Wir unterstützen den heutigen Streik, wir unterstützen den Schmerz und die Wut der Schwestern und Brüder von Soumaila.

Wir werden nicht ruhen, bis Gerechtigkeit geschaffen ist.
