Nella giornata di lunedì 19 agosto, la Turchia si è svegliata, come spesso accade sotto il governo del sultano Erdogan, sotto una nube repressiva.
Il Ministero degli Interni ha infatti sospeso i sindaci eletti a Diyarbakir, Mardin e Van, tutti eletti nelle file dell’HDP lo scorso 31 marzo, con l’accusa di “legami con il PKK”, e li ha sostituiti con commissari straordinari. Allo stesso tempo il Paese è stato teatro di operazioni di polizia in diverse città, che hanno portato alla detenzione preventiva di ben 418 cittadini, tra cui alcuni consiglieri comunali.
Infine, alcune fonti parlavano di forze dell’ordine impegnate a circondare il quartier generale dell’HDP ad Ankara.
Quello che si è prodotto ieri è un altro passaggio del golpe che Erdogan sta perpetrando nell’indifferenza internazionale, con la UE e i governi europei capaci al massimo di balbettare qualche parola di condanna.
Se si vuole davvero fermare Erdogan nella sua spirale repressiva bisogna colpirlo lì dove più è sensibile: nella tasca. Significa metter fine all’erogazione di fondi che vengono puntualmente utilizzati per rafforzare arsenali repressivi rivolti contro le popolazioni kurde e per progettare attacchi oltre confine, come quello che ha portato all’attacco contro Afrin e, in generale, alle mire espansionistiche nel Rojava del confederalismo democratico.
Solidarietà ai sindaci sospesi e all’HDP, colpito ancora una volta dalla repressione del “Sultano”!

AGAINST ERDOGAN’S REPRESSION. SOLIDARITY WITH THE HDP AND THE MAYORS UNDER ATTACK
On Monday 19th August, Turkey woke up, as it has often done under the government of the Sultan Erdoğan, under a cloud of repression.
The Minister of Internal Affairs had suspended the elected mayors in Diyarbakir, Mardin and Van, all elected from the ranks of the HDP during the 31st March local elections, accused of having “ties with the PKK”, and substituted them with special commissioners. Whilst this was happening the country was the subjected to police operations in multiple cities, bringing 418 citizens into preventative detention, among them regional councillors.
In addition to this, sources described security forces surrounding the headquarters of the HDP in Ankara.
These occurrences yesterday were another stage of the coup that Erdoğan is carrying out against a backdrop of international indifference, with the EU and European governments able at the very most to mutter a few words of condemnation.
If there is a genuine will to stop Erdoğan in his spiral of repression, it needs to hit him where it hurts: the pocket. This means ending the supply of funds that are routinely used to strengthen his arsenal of repression used against the Kurdish people and in the planning of attacks beyond the Turkish borders, like the attack on Afrin and, in general, Turkey’s expansionist desires in Rojava.
Solidarity with the suspended mayors and with the HDP, once again attacked by the repression of the “Sultan”!
